Definition of philosophize

phi`los´o`phize   Pronunciation: fĭ`lǒs´ô`fīz
v. i.1.To reason like a philosopher; to search into the reason and nature of things; to investigate phenomena, and assign rational causes for their existence.
[imp. & p. p. Philosophized (fĭ*lǒs"ô*fīzd); p. pr. & vb. n. hilosophizing (fĭ*lǒs"ô*fī`zĭng).]
Man philosophizes as he lives. He may philosophize well or ill, but philosophize he must.
