substance
composed
of
protein
and
ferric
oxide
,
resulting
from
the
breakdown
of
hemoglobin
;
it
has
a
higher
iron
content
than
ferritin
,
and
its
presence
in
body
tissues
or
phagocytes
can
be
a
symptom
of
disturbed
iron
metabolism
.
