esculin

the
bark

the
horse-chestnut

It
is
structurally
a
derivative
of
a
coumarin
glucoside
.
It
shows
a
delicate
blue-green
fluorescence
in
alkaline
solutions
; -
called
also
paviin
and
fraxoside
.
