(Psychotherapy)
The
process
of
relieving
an
abnormal
excitement
by
reëstablishing
the
association
of
the
emotion
with
the
memory
or
idea
of
the
event
that
first
caused
it
,
and
of
eliminating
it
by
complete
expression
(
called
the
abreaction
).
