These
corals
are
allied
to
the
sea-pens

but
have
a
long
rodlike
rhachis
inclosing
a
slender
,
round
or
square
,
calcareous
axis
.
The
polyps
are
arranged
in
transverse
rows
or
clusters
along
each
side
of
the
rhachis
.
