Definition of Tenrec

Ten´rec
n.1.(Zool.) A small insectivore (Centetes ecaudatus), native of Madagascar, but introduced also into the islands of Bourbon and Mauritius; - called also tanrec. The name is applied to other allied genera. See Tendrac.
