white
crystalline
substance
.
It
has
a
cooling
,
saline
,
slightly
bitter
taste
and
is
employed
as
a
mild
purgative
.
It
was
discovered
by
Seignette
,
an
apothecary
of
Rochelle
,
and
is
called
also
Seignete's salt
.
