A
form
of
blood
poisoning
produced
by
the
absorption
of
pyogenic
microorganisms
into
the
blood
,
usually
from
a
wound
or
local
inflammation
.
It
is
characterized
by
multiple
abscesses
throughout
the
body
,
and
is
attended
with
irregularly
recurring
chills
,
fever
,
profuse
sweating
,
and
exhaustion
.
