officer
appointed
in
every
army

the
field

to
secure
the
prisoners
confined
on
charges
of
a
general
nature
.
He
also
performs
such
other
duties
pertaining
to
police
and
discipline
as
the
regulations
of
the
service
or
the
commander

orders
impose
upon
him
.
