characterized
by
great
massiveness
,
simplicity
,
and
strength
,
with
the
use
of
the
semicircular
arch
,
heavy
round
columns
,
and
a
great
variety
of
ornaments
,
among
which
the
zigzag
and
spiral
or
cable-formed
ornaments
were
prominent
.
