genus
of
extinct
marine
reptiles
allied
to
the
lizards
,
but
having
the
body
much
elongated
,
and
the
limbs
in
the
form
of
paddles
.
The
first
known
species
,
nearly
fifty
feet
in
length
,
was
discovered
in
Cretaceous
beds
near
Maestricht
,
in
the
Netherlands
.
