lip

It
consists

the
second
pair
of
maxillæ,
usually
closely
united
in
the
middle
line
,
but
bearing
a
pair
of
palpi
in
most
insects
.
It
often
consists
of
a
thin
anterior
part
(
ligula
or
palpiger
)
and
a
firmer
posterior
plate
(
mentum
).
