(Bot.) A genus (Physalis) of herbaceous plants having an inflated calyx for a seed pod: esp., the strawberry tomato (Physalis Alkekengi). See Alkekengl.
A European shrub (Prunus Chamæcerasus), with small, very acid fruit.
